New families
Come check out Pack 13
Families are welcome year-round. Stop by a Pack Night, or email the pack with a question.
Come visit
Visit a Pack Night
Come as you are. Pack Night is the easiest way to meet us: the whole pack together, with games, awards, and other families. You don’t have to register before you visit.
Want to ask something first, or bring a friend? Email the pack and a volunteer will write back.
How it works
How joining works
Here’s how most families get started.
-
1
Reach out
Email us with your child’s grade and a good way to contact you. We’ll answer questions and invite you to a meeting.
-
2
Visit a meeting
Tour the pack, meet leaders and other families, and see dens in action. Kids are encouraged to jump in and try activities.
-
3
Register & suit up
Complete the official Scouting America application, pay pack dues, and get a uniform when you’re ready. We’ll walk you through every step.
Adults are part of the program too. Den leaders, committee members, and event helpers are parents and guardians. Volunteering and safety explains how to help and how the pack keeps youth safe.
Questions
What families ask us
How much time does it take?
About 3 to 4½ hours a month: one pack meeting and one or two den meetings. The hiking and fishing clubs are extra, and those outings run longer.
Does a parent or guardian stay at meetings?
For Lions and Tigers (kindergarten and 1st grade), yes. Each Scout has an adult partner beside them, one to one.
For older Scouts, families are still encouraged to come along. Pack 13 puts the whole family first. A den leader may ask for an adult at some activities.
What should we wear to our first visit?
Come as you are. No uniform needed.
Do we have to register before we visit?
No. Visit first, ask questions, and register when you’re ready.
Do we have to sell popcorn?
No. Fundraising is optional, and a buyout is an option if you’d rather not sell. When your Scout does sell, what they earn goes toward their dues first. How fundraising helps
What if cost is a concern?
Talk with us privately. We want every Scout to be able to take part.
Can girls join?
Yes. Every den welcomes boys and girls.
Can we join partway through the year, or transfer from another pack?
Yes. New families are welcome year-round, and so are Scouts coming from another pack.
Scouting America registration is good for a full year from whenever you join. Pack dues are prorated for the part of the year that’s left. Email us and we’ll help with the next steps.
